Character History: Yoko was born in Ritona, the neighboring village of Giha Village. She is first seen falling into Giha Village, chasing after the Gunmen that had crashed down into it. It was here that she first met Kamina and Simon, and with the power of the Gunmen called Lagann. Yoko ended up joining forces with Simon and Kamina, and went with them when they became determined to stop the source of the Gunmen attacks – together they formed the Gurren Brigade.
Through their adventures, they were bolstered by Lagann and the stolen Gunmen piloted by Kamina, Gurren. Gurren and Lagann became a force to be reckoned with in their combined form, Gurren Lagann, and over time, they became a force to be reckoned with against the Beastmen armies. They attracted a number of allies, and over time, Yoko developed a deep affection for Kamina and a sisterly love for Simon. However, when attempting to take the powerful battleship known as the Dai-Gunzan, Kamina was mortally wounded. Holding on long enough, Kamina was able to aid Simon long enough for them to win the battle.
After Kamina's death, Simon isolated himself emotionally from everyone while Yoko coped with her loss alone. However, the arrival of the mysterious Nia, who was revealed to be the daughter of Lord Genome, the master of the Beastmen, marked the beginning of a change for all of them. Simon became taken with Nia, and as the girl opened up to them both, Yoko overcame her initial dislike and became fond of the girl as well. From then on, Yoko stood alongside Simon, Nia, and the rest of the Brigade, serving as an occasional pilot for Gurren.
After Lord Genome's fall, Yoko went off on her own, choosing not to participate in the building of “Kamina City.” Some time later, she emerged as a schoolteacher, and for a time, it seemed she found a place where she could be happy without the memories of combat.
And then she got pulled into the Digital World.
Yoko Personality: Yoko is headstrong and firm, but also caring and protective to those closest to her. Like many of the characters in “Gurren Lagann”, she is more than a little rough around the edges and can be quick to anger. She is also prone to being sarcastic as well as gentle teasing. Yoko will fight to the death to protect the people who are important to her, and is also dedicated to honoring Kamina's legacy to the greatest extent she can. This leads to measures of self doubt, especially when she believes she hasn't succeeded in doing that.
Commandramon Personality: Commandramon is, to put it simply, a stiff. He wouldn't know hot blood if you screamed the concept at him. He's soldier-like and grim, and it would take a significant moment to get him to act out.
Yoko Abilities: Yoko is extremely athletic, but her true skill lies in her marksmanship. Yoko is proficient with a rifle or any kind of fire arm, as well as with cannons. She's also a very decent Gunmen pilot, but that doesn't do much for her in the Digital World.
Commandramon Abilities: Commandramon can use his armor to blend in with his surroundings, effectively becoming invisible. He wields a gun called the M-16 Assassin, which can fire a spread of bullets or fire single shot designed for precision accuracy. He can also throw grenades as part of his DCD Bomb attack. His skills as a marksman are equal to Yoko's, though their styles are quite different.
